Este fin de semana llegó un oleaje grande a lo largo de la costa de California, y muchos salieron a surfear.
Los socorristas estatales de California estuvieron en alerta y en especial con los surfos, en este caso los salvavidas Chris Connolly y Tucker Zimmerman les tocaron hacer un rescate espectacular.
Connolly y Zimmerman atendieron a un surfista en apuro en Faria Beach al norte de Ventura. Cuando llegaron, los Bomberos del Condado de Ventura estaban preparando el puesto de comando del incidente.
Las olas llegaban hasta el rompe olas de Ventura, y la corriente fluía con rapidez de norte al sur. Luego de evaluar la situación Connolly, se puso su traje con atado a la cintura sus patas de rana, y agarró su boya de rescate junto con el paddleboard.
Entró en el agua mas arriba que la victima y aprovecho a su favor la corriente para alcanzarla.
12/11/15 Ventura Big Surf RescueThis weekend provided huge surf along the California Coast, and surfers ventured out to ride the big waves. California State Lifeguards kept a watchful eye on the wave riders, and, in the case of Seasonal Lifeguard IIs Chris Connolly and Tucker Zimmerman, made a spectacular rescue. Connolly and Zimmerman responded to a "surfer in distress" call at Faria Beach north of Ventura. When they arrived, Ventura County Fire Department and Ventura City Fire were setting up the incident command. The lifeguards assessed the current and the surf–wave crests had been touching the bottom of the Ventura Pier, and the current flowed swiftly north to south. Connolly, put on his wetsuit, strapped on his fin belt with fins around his waist, and grabbed his rescue buoy along with the rescue paddle board. He entered the water far up coast from his victim and used the current to his advantage. Zimmerman handled all radio communications.
